So from 58kg last year, I went down to 53kg. For me, this was life changing and I can tell you now that it wasn’t easy at first, but it was definitely worth all the effort. Maybe I can share you some of the ways how I did it.
These are some of the steps I have committed to myself.
A. Plan it out.
Why do you want to be healthy? There must be reasons behind what you are aiming for, so I made a health plan.
B. Detox.
I had to detox my body for five days before I went on to my planned diet. If I had started straight away with my diet, my body would have been hard up to comprehend on the sudden changes of my food intake. Detoxing is important as it cleanses your body. It is sort of like an introductory phase before going on a diet.
C. Avoid the bad stuff.
I also tried to minimise some of my bad eating habits. I avoided bad carbs (high GI) especially because I wanted to lose weight. It is a must. Carbs are great sources of fuel for the body, but make sure you are eating the right ones. Watch what you eat!
D. Supplements.
Highly important. Some of you might be skeptic about supplementation, if they really work or not. That is okay because I used to be a skeptic too! Have a quick research about its importance and you’ll be amazed at how many books and journal articles you’ll find in the internet talking about its benefits. For me, it is important to take them whether you have a planned diet or not. In this day and age, our bodies are not having the right nutrients and vitamins from the food that we eat. The richness of our soils have depleted due to industrialisation, unlike decades ago where fruits and veggies were rich sources of vitamins and nutrients. The decision really is up to you, but I do hope you take some action.
E. No excuses.
Do your exercises, workouts, lifts, go run, do cardio, whatever your routine tells you. I know we have a busy lifestyle, but always make sure that we have time for our health. Just like what Jim Rohn said “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”
F. Environment.
I surrounded myself with people who are driven and motivated. Make friends with people who you know will help you to hit your health goal. I realised that it is important to not only have the right mindset, but also the right environment.
That is all. Very simple! Each of us have our own pace, but the most important thing is to start now, start transforming YOU into a better version of yourself. You don’t need complicated workouts, nor do you need expensive gym clothes. What is important is that you care about your health.
To tell you the truth, I wasn’t very passionate about health before. However, late last year my Aunt passed away because of cancer. Me and my family were all deeply saddened by this news, but at the same time surprised. Surprised because our Aunt looked very healthy and young that you wouldn’t even expect her to be diagnosed by such disease. From that day on, I told myself to take care of my health. I know that being healthy is expensive, but I cannot afford to be unhealthy.
We all have our own excuses but don’t let them be a hindrance to hit certain goals. Investing in my health has been one of the best decisions in my life. I am not a health expert but with a simple health plan, action, and a little push, these things are already helpful enough to keep me going. I am not entirely there yet but I’m sure I’m not far from hitting my goal.
So, what about you? When will you be ready to take charge of your health? What transformation do you want to see in yourself?
In this generation, health problems continue to rise such as obesity epidemic and degenerative diseases. Maybe it’s about time to take a look at ourselves in the mirror and start making small plans and actions. Let us start opening our minds to change, for new things, new learnings. That is how transformation starts.
I also wanted to share some good news. Now that you know that I love health, me and my partner will start a Personal Trainer course soon! We wanted to gain more knowledge about health and fitness, and this way we can help our families and friends to hit their health goals more efficiently. So, good luck to us! We will definitely update you for more good news to come.
Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you gained something out of this. Start with simple plans to hit your your goals. You can start small, because small progress is better than nothing after all.
